About Georama

Georama is a sans serif with open letter shapes and a tall lowercase; in the specimen the Thin is a hairline and the heaviest weights turn compact and dark. Its main feature is range. The two variable files, roman and italic, each carry a weight axis from 100 to 900 and a width axis from 62.5 to 150, so the same family runs from condensed to expanded letters. Both axes default to their minimum, Thin weight at the narrowest width, which means the values have to be set explicitly. Nine named weights from Thin to Black with italics make 18 styles per width. The 1,070 glyphs cover Latin, Latin Extended and Vietnamese, and the official description says the Google Fonts Latin Plus glyph set is supported. The listing credits Production Type, the name table names Jean-Baptiste Levee as designer, and the license is the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

Where Georama works

Headlines fitted to their container
A width axis from 62.5 to 150 lets a headline be narrowed or widened until it fills the line.
Editorial systems
Condensed settings for decks and tables, normal width for text and expanded settings for section titles come from one family.
Posters with extreme proportions
Black at the narrowest width and Thin at the widest are both available from the same files.
Brand identities
Nine weights, italics and continuous width give a brand a wide typographic range without a second typeface.
Responsive web layouts
Width and weight can be adjusted per breakpoint in CSS, since both are variable axes.
