About Prompt

Prompt is a sans serif family covering Thai and Latin. Its Thai letters are loopless, a simplified modern form without the small loops of traditional Thai type, and they are drawn wide with plenty of interior space. The Latin was developed to sit beside them: simple and geometric, with broad capitals, round bowls and open spacing, as the specimen shows. The name means ready in Thai, as it does in English. Cadson Demak leads the project, and the font file credits the Katatrad Team as designer. Nine weights from Thin to Black, each with an italic, give 18 static styles, and each font holds 764 glyphs in the thai, latin, latin-ext and vietnamese subsets. The official notes describe the family as suitable for web and print work such as magazines, newspapers and posters. It is licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

Where Prompt works

Thai and English websites
Thai and Latin were designed together, so bilingual navigation and headings share width and tone.
Magazine and newspaper headings
The notes name editorial print among the intended uses, and nine weights give a full heading hierarchy.
Posters and advertising
Wide letters in Bold to Black fill a line with few words.
App interfaces for Thai users
The loopless Thai forms are simple in outline, which suits labels and buttons on screens.
Brand systems
Eighteen files from Thin to Black Italic cover logos, titles and small print in two scripts.

Things to know

Loopless Thai can be ambiguous in very short text
The official notes warn that some Thai letters look alike in loopless form, which may cause confusion when only a word or two is set.
Static files
Prompt is not a variable font. The package contains 18 separate TTF files.
Wide proportions
Letters take more horizontal room than in most sans serifs, so long lines need more space.
No Cyrillic or Greek
Coverage is Thai, Latin, Latin Extended and Vietnamese.
