What is Trancy?
Trancy is a language-learning assistant built around real video and web content. On YouTube, Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, TED, edX, Coursera and Udemy it overlays subtitles in two languages and offers a reading mode that shrinks the video to one side and lays the subtitles out as text. Words can be looked up with AI definitions, long sentences can be broken down grammatically, and messy captions are regrouped into full sentences before translation. On ordinary websites the extension translates a selected word, a sentence or the whole article side by side with the original, using an engine of your choice such as Google, DeepL or OpenAI. Saved words and sentences feed a web learning centre with decks and flashcards.
