About Meow Script

Meow Script is a script typeface drawn with a single line of constant thickness, so there is no thick-and-thin contrast as in pen calligraphy. The lowercase leans forward and joins along the baseline, and letters such as f, g, j, p, q, y and z drop into open loops below it. Capitals are broad and start with round entry curls. The family is one Regular style and not a variable font, but the file is large for a single cut: 2,368 glyphs, many of them alternate forms reached through six stylistic sets. Character sets cover Latin, Latin Extended and Vietnamese. Robert Leuschke is credited as designer, and the font is published under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. The official notes point it at posters, adverts and invitations.

Where Meow Script works

Casual invitations
The even line and looping descenders give party and shower invitations a hand-lettered heading without the formality of a contrast script.
Neon-style and single-line lettering
Because the stroke never changes thickness, a word in Meow Script translates directly to tube, wire or engraved line work.
Wordmarks with chosen letterforms
Six stylistic sets of alternates let a designer pick different shapes for repeated letters in a name.
Poster and advert headings
Wide capitals and a forward lean carry a short slogan above plainer text.
Vietnamese and Central European names
The Vietnamese and Latin Extended sets keep accented names in the same script as the rest of the line.

Use Meow Script on the web

Download the family and host the files on your own site, then declare them in CSS. Please do not link to the files on trendhub.net: preview files here are subsets and their addresses change.

CSS, self-hosted

  src: url("/assets/fonts/MeowScript-Regular.ttf") format("truetype");
  font-weight: 400;
  font-style: normal;

Things to know

One weight
Meow Script has only Regular 400. The line cannot be made bolder without leaving the family.
Alternates need OpenType
The six stylistic sets are OpenType features, so they appear only in software or CSS that can enable them.
Loops need line spacing
Descender loops are long in the specimen; stacked lines need generous leading so they do not collide.
