About Caprasimo

Caprasimo is a display typeface with very thick strokes and soft, rounded serifs. It is a DocRepair font: according to the official description it exists to stand in for a typeface missing from an Office Open XML document, keeping line breaks close to the original and helping compliance with ISO/IEC 29500. The design is derived from Fraunces, an old-style soft-serif family by Phaedra Charles and Flavia Zimbardi that looks back to typefaces of the early 20th century. In the specimen the serifs are bulbous, the counters of o and e are small and tilted, and terminals end in rounded blobs. Caprasimo is one static Regular file with 255 glyphs in a Latin character set, including the letters for English, French, German, Spanish and the Nordic languages. There is no italic or variable version.

Where Caprasimo works

Document fallback
Caprasimo was built so that Office Open XML files keep their layout when a heavy soft-serif face is unavailable.
Headlines with a soft, heavy look
Thick strokes and rounded serifs give a short headline a friendly weight.
Food and drink packaging
The bulbous serifs and early 20th-century source suit labels, menus and shop signs with a retro tone.
Poster titles
A few large words in Caprasimo fill a poster without needing a second weight.
