About Adamina

Adamina is a serif typeface drawn for text at small sizes. The official notes list the means: a raised x-height, reduced contrast, compact transitional proportions, and details such as stems that flare on one side and serifs that differ left and right. The specimen bears this out, with a large lowercase next to modest capitals, sturdy thin strokes that would survive small print, and bracketed serifs. The family has a single Regular style, without italic or bold, and is not a variable font. Its 221 glyphs cover the basic Latin character set, with the letters for languages such as German, Spanish and Swedish; French is covered apart from the rare capital Ÿ. Alexei Vanyashin designed Adamina for Cyreal, which holds the copyright and reserves the font name. A January 2016 update, version 1.012, repaired the kerning data. Adamina is published under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

Where Adamina works

Captions and footnotes
A raised x-height and low contrast keep the letters open when the type is set small under an image or at the foot of a page.
Short articles and essays
Compact transitional proportions fit more words on a line without the letters looking squeezed.
Dense reference pages
Sturdy thin strokes hold together in glossaries, listings and side notes.
Subheads above sans serif text
One-sided flaring and asymmetrical serifs become visible at larger sizes and add detail to a quiet heading.
