About Coming Soon

Coming Soon is a handwriting typeface drawn as neat, unjoined print letters instead of cursive. The specimen shows an upright stance, a pen line of nearly constant thickness with round ends, narrow capitals and small irregularities that keep it looking written by hand: letters that sit slightly off the baseline, curled tails on g, j and q, and stems that lean a little. Open Window, the studio credited with the font, says it follows handwriting their mother produced as a sixth-grade pupil; the font's name table lists Dathan Boardman as designer. There is one Regular style and no bold or italic. The 230 glyphs stay within the Latin subset, which includes the letters for English and for Western European languages such as French, German and Spanish. Coming Soon is distributed under the Apache License 2.0.

Where Coming Soon works

Worksheets and classroom displays
Separate, upright print letters resemble the handwriting children are taught before cursive.
Notes on slides and diagrams
A thin, even pen line reads as an annotation added by hand next to typeset content.
Cards and party invitations
The slightly uneven baseline gives short messages a handwritten, informal tone.
Captions on social posts
A line or two in Coming Soon looks like a handwritten remark over a photo.
