About Calligraffitti

Calligraffitti is a handwriting typeface that records a trained calligrapher writing quickly. The official notes credit the letters to the designer's mother and her years of formal practice, captured here in an impromptu version of her alphabet. In the specimen the pen line is thin and nearly even, the letters slant like an italic hand and mostly stand unjoined, and the capitals add flourishes: a looped A, a G, J and Y that drop far below the line, and long finishing strokes on Z and z. Double f swings into deep paired descenders. The family is a single Regular style with 228 glyphs in the basic Latin subset, and it is not a variable font. The designer field names Open Window; the font's name table names Dathan Boardman. Calligraffitti is licensed under the Apache License 2.0.

Where Calligraffitti works

Greeting cards and thank-you notes
A slanted, unjoined pen hand sets a short message that looks written by someone with practised handwriting.
Quote graphics
Flourished capitals and deep descenders give a one-line quotation movement at large size.
Place cards and informal invitations
Names set in mixed case show off the looped A and the long-tailed G, J and Y.
Journal and recipe headings
A thin line and italic slant mark section titles as handwritten next to typeset text.
