About Baloo Bhai 2

Baloo Bhai 2 is the Gujarati member of Ek Type's Baloo 2 project, a group of ten families that each combine one Indic or Arabic script with a shared Latin. Its letters are soft and sturdy: stroke ends are rounded, thickness stays almost even, and curves are slightly squared. The family is a variable font with one axis, weight, running from 400 to 800, with five named weights: Regular, Medium, SemiBold, Bold and ExtraBold. There is no italic. The 1,275 glyphs cover Gujarati together with Latin, Latin Extended and Vietnamese. According to the official description the Gujarati letters are the work of Noopur Datye and Supriya Tembe, the Latin was drawn collaboratively at Ek Type, and Baloo 2 extends the earlier Baloo project with more glyphs and a wider range of weights. It is published under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

Where Baloo Bhai 2 works

Gujarati and English headlines
Both scripts share weight and roundness, so a bilingual poster or shop sign reads as one design.
Snack and toy packaging
ExtraBold 800 with rounded stroke ends gives a product name a soft, friendly mass on a pack.
Children's apps and books
Rounded forms in Regular and Medium set short sentences, labels and buttons for young readers.
Animated titles
The weight axis moves continuously between 400 and 800, so a title can thicken or thin in motion graphics.

Hind Vadodara Sans Serif

Baloo Bhai 2 gives Gujarati and Latin headlines a rounded display voice; Hind Vadodara, a sans serif that covers the same two scripts from Light 300 to Bold 700, sets the text below.

Suggestions come from simple rules on the records: a contrasting classification and enough weights to carry body text. They are a starting point, not a verdict.
