About Atomic Age

Atomic Age is a display face that translates car-badge script into upright, disconnected letters. The stroke is even and fairly heavy, corners are rounded squares, and many shapes keep a memory of handwriting: the lowercase o is closed by a flat bar across its top, r and s follow cursive forms, the capital A starts from a spur on the left, and m and n bend like folded metal strip. The official description names nameplates of 1950s American cars as the source and says the connecting strokes were dropped to make the result more legible and mechanical in look. The family is one Regular style and is not variable. Its 544 glyphs cover Latin and Latin Extended. An update noted by the foundry tightened the letter spacing and improved hinting; the font is described as usable from small sizes up to large display.

Where Atomic Age works

Automotive and garage branding
The letter shapes come from car nameplates, which suits workshops, car clubs and classic-car events.
Retro-futurist posters
Squared curves and script-derived forms evoke 1950s space-age styling in titles and flyers.
Diner and bar signage
An even, sturdy stroke with rounded corners reproduces well as cut vinyl, neon outlines or routed letters.
Game and app titles
A mechanical look with enough Latin Extended coverage for localised titles in Central European languages.
