Arbutus Slab is a slab serif with thick bracketed serifs, a clear but moderate difference between thick and thin strokes, and a dark overall colour. The specimen shows round ball terminals on a, c, f, j, r and y, a curled tail on Q, wide capitals and letters set with noticeable space between them. That generous spacing is deliberate: according to the official description it lets the face be used at fairly small sizes as well as in headings. The model was the jobbing type of American printers in the 18th and 19th centuries. Karolina Lach designed Arbutus Slab, and the copyright notice names Sorkin Type Co. The font has a single Regular style, without italic or bold, and 434 glyphs covering Latin and Latin Extended. The license is the SIL Open Font License 1.1.
