Alike is a serif typeface intended for text. The official notes call its letterforms expressive and tense, mention a Czech influence that has been softened to feel friendlier, and point to regular proportions and low contrast as aids to reading. Looking at the specimen, the tension shows in curves that turn a little abruptly: the bowls of a and e, the shoulder of n and the tail of y have a slight angular snap, while the serifs are firm and wedge-like. Strokes stay fairly sturdy throughout, so the Regular prints with an even, moderately dark colour. Sveta Sebyakina designed Alike in 2009, and Cyreal first released it in 2011 with Alexei Vanyashin collaborating. A complementary titling style, Alike Angular, exists as a separate family. Alike has one Regular style with 362 glyphs in the Latin and Latin Extended subsets, under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.
