Alex Brush is a script typeface that imitates writing with a pointed brush: strokes swell on the way down and thin to a hairline on the way up, and the lowercase letters join along a steep rightward slant. The capitals begin with wide entry loops; the A in the specimen starts from a long stroke far to the left of the letter. Ascenders and descenders are short in relation to the lowercase body, which the official description gives as the reason for its legibility. The numerals share the slant, and several carry small flourishes. Alex Brush has one style, Regular 400, and no bold. Its 605 glyphs cover the Latin, Latin Extended and Vietnamese subsets, including letters for Turkish, Polish and Czech. Robert Leuschke is credited as the designer, and the font is published under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.
