About Unica One

Unica One is a condensed sans serif display face built as a unicase, meaning capital and lowercase forms share one height. Typing capitals gives a narrow uppercase alphabet, while the lowercase keys return a mixed set in which a, e, m, n, r, t, u and w keep small-letter shapes and most other letters repeat the capitals. Strokes are of even thickness, and bowls are squared into tall, pill-shaped counters, which is plain to see in O, D and the numerals of the specimen. The family has one Regular style and no italic. According to the official notes the glyph set was completed in January 2023; the font now holds 645 glyphs for the Latin, Latin Extended and Vietnamese character sets. Eduardo Tunni designed Unica One, and it is licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

Where Unica One works

Magazine and blog headlines
Narrow letters of one height pack a long title into a single line with level top and bottom edges.
Wordmarks
Mixing the capital and small-letter variants of a, e, m or n gives a name a distinct shape without leaving the one typeface.
Event and film posters
The condensed width leaves room for large sizes on tall formats, and the even stroke stays clear over photographs.
Short interface titles
Section names and short navigation labels set at large sizes make use of the compact width; the official notes limit it to headlines and short texts.
