About Tektur

Tektur is a constructed typeface that draws every round shape as an octagon with a rectangular counter. Corners are chamfered where a curve would normally be, while most diagonals, as in A, V and K, are left as they are, which the designer says preserves readability and a familiar stance. The lowercase is tall, and ascenders stop at capital height, so lines can be stacked closely; the specimen shows this compact, blocky texture. The family is a variable font with two axes: weight from 400 to 900, with six named weights from Regular to Black, and width from 75 to 100, where 100 is the default and lower values condense the letters. There are no italics. The single file holds 1,129 glyphs across Latin, Latin Extended, Vietnamese, Cyrillic and Greek. Adam Jagosz is the designer.

Where Tektur works

Game interfaces and titles
Chamfered corners and rectangular counters fit science-fiction, racing and e-sports graphics.
Technology and hardware logos
The octagonal construction gives a wordmark a machined look, and Black fills it out for small marks.
Stacked headlines
Ascenders level with the capitals let lines sit close together without collisions.
Narrow labels and badges
The width axis condenses the letters down to 75, so a long word can be fitted to a fixed box.
Titles in Cyrillic and Greek
Both scripts are built on the same octagonal principle as the Latin.
