About Rochester

Rochester is a script typeface whose shapes draw on formal calligraphy from the Victorian era and the Art Deco years. The lowercase is compact and heavy for a script, joined at the baseline, with clear contrast between thick stems and thin links; the capitals are taller, slanted and looped, and several start with a wide entry curl. The numerals in the specimen are a surprise: they stand upright in a high-contrast roman style instead of following the slant. The family is a single Regular font with no variable axis, holding 230 glyphs in the basic Latin subset. The catalogue lists Sideshow as designer; the font's name table credits Gillian Fisher, with Font Diner, Inc DBA Sideshow as manufacturer and copyright holder. Rochester is published under the Apache License 2.0.

Where Rochester works

Formal invitations
Looped capitals and a dense, dark lowercase give names and headings weight on printed cards.
Vintage labels
The Victorian and Art Deco flavour suits bottle labels, barber and tailor branding and period-style menus.
Letterheads and notes
The official notes aim the face at correspondence that wants a formal touch, such as a name line on stationery.
Dates and prices beside script
Upright, high-contrast figures stay easy to read next to the slanted letters.
