About Pontano Sans

Pontano Sans is a sans serif typeface with plain, open letterforms and a light colour on the page. Strokes show only slight modulation, curves are wide, and the lowercase has a double-storey a and a moderate x-height. The official description calls it minimalist and light, made mainly for display use yet workable for text, and intended for web browsers on desktop, laptop and mobile devices. The same notes say the family became variable in February 2023, gaining a range from light to bold together with improvements to rendering and language support. Pontano Sans now has a weight axis from 300 to 700 with five named weights: Light, Regular, Medium, SemiBold and Bold. There are no italics. The font holds 510 glyphs for Latin and Latin Extended text. Vernon Adams is the designer, and the license is the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

Where Pontano Sans works

Website headings and hero text
Display use is the main purpose named in the official description, and Light 300 gives large titles a quiet tone.
Web body copy
The description also allows for text; Regular carries paragraphs, with SemiBold or Bold for emphasis.
Uncluttered interface labels
Simple, open shapes keep buttons and form labels plain.
Minimal brand identities
A light sans with few details suits studios, architects and product brands that want restraint.
