About Pirata One

Pirata One is a blackletter typeface in the textura tradition, with heavy vertical stems, angular joins and pointed, diagonal stroke endings. Its designers, Rodrigo Fuenzalida and Nicolas Massi, pared the forms down: the capitals in the specimen are narrow and free of hairline flourishes, and the lowercase keeps open counters, so words remain readable on a screen. The official description says the face was simplified for screen and pixel displays and that its condensed build and spacing suit headers and short paragraphs. The family is one Regular style, without bold or italic, and is not a variable font. It holds 385 glyphs covering the Latin and Latin Extended character sets, including the accented letters of languages such as German, Polish, Czech and Turkish. The fonts are published under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

Where Pirata One works

Web page headers
The textura forms were simplified for screens, so a site title or section header stays legible in a browser.
Posters for concerts and festivals
Dense black stems and a condensed build put a band or event name in a compact, dark block.
Game, film and story titles
A title in Pirata One signals a historical or adventure setting with a few letters.
Logos, labels and badges
The capitals are plain enough to be read as initials or a short brand name on a label or patch.
