Supermercado One is a display typeface made of even, rounded-ended strokes on a narrow, semi-geometric frame. The lowercase is plain and mechanical, built from straight stems and tight curves with wide letterspacing. The capitals are another matter: in the specimen the A begins with a curl at its top left, the O carries an inner loop, the M and N arch like lowercase letters, and the X is drawn as two stems joined by a crossed bar. The official notes trace the idea to naive industrial letters and point out that these swashes make it unlike a typical mechanical sans. They add that it remains usable in paragraphs and at smaller sizes. The font has one style and 411 glyphs. James Grieshaber designed it; the copyright notice names Sorkin Type Co.
