Pragati Narrow is a condensed sans serif made so that Devanagari text has a partner for the Latin family Archivo Narrow. Its strokes end in vertical and horizontal cuts, and it was developed with screen use in mind. The Devanagari was drawn by Pablo Cosgaya, Marcela Romero and Nicolás Silva; the Latin was derived from Chivo, a design by Héctor Gatti, and the official notes relate it to American typefaces of the late nineteenth century. In the specimen the Latin is a tightly fitted grotesque with a tall lowercase and compact rounds. The family has two static fonts, Regular 400 and Bold 700, with 1,148 glyphs each and no italics. Pragati is the Hindi word for progress. Omnibus-Type, a foundry based in Argentina, leads the project and worked on it as a team.
