Phudu is an all-caps sans-serif display typeface by Dương Trần, inspired by hand-lettered Vietnamese shop billboards. Phudu is a variable font with a weight axis from 300 to 900 and seven named weights, and its letters widen as the weight gets lighter. Phudu is released under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 and suits headlines, posters and signs.

Phudu is a variable font: the download holds the whole weight range in one file, and the named weights above are positions on that range.
Phudu is a display sans serif in capitals only: the lowercase keys return the same capital shapes. Dương Trần based it on the lettering that Vietnamese sign painters put on shop billboards, where Latin capitals were adapted and tone marks added by hand. The name comes from "phục dựng", Vietnamese for revival. The family is variable on one axis, weight, from 300 to 900, with seven named instances from Light to Black. The design links width to weight in an unusual way: the lighter the setting, the more extended the letters, which the designer intended to keep thin weights readable. In the specimen the Q carries its tail as a bar under the bowl and the @ sign is squared. Its 604 glyphs cover Latin, Latin Extended and Vietnamese.
Latin and Latin Extended characters in the preview subset; the complete family has 604 glyphs.
The family contains the core letters these languages are written with:
Character sets found in the files: latin, latin-ext, vietnamese. The language list is a check of required letters against the font, not a promise of typographic quality in each language.

Suggestions come from simple rules on the records: a contrasting classification and enough weights to carry body text. They are a starting point, not a verdict.
Download the family and host the files on your own site, then declare them in CSS. Please do not link to the files on trendhub.net: preview files here are subsets and their addresses change.
