About MuseoModerno

MuseoModerno is a geometric display typeface drawn for the identity of Museo Moderno in Buenos Aires. In the specimen the strokes are monoline and several letters depart from standard forms: M and W are built from rounded arches, G ends in a hook below the baseline, the tail of Q drops straight from the bowl, K, X and Y use curved strokes, and a is single-storey. The family is variable on one axis, weight, from 100 to 900, with nine named weights in roman and italic, 18 styles. It comes as two variable files holding 1,076 glyphs across Latin, Latin Extended and Vietnamese character sets. The record credits Omnibus-Type; the name table names Héctor Gatti, Marcela Romero and Pablo Cosgaya along with the project authors.

Where MuseoModerno works

Museum and gallery identities
The face was made for a museum identity, and its arch-built M and W give a name a recognisable shape.
Logos and wordmarks
Nonstandard forms such as the hooked G and curved K make a short name distinctive without added graphics.
Exhibition titles and posters
Thin 100 to Black 900 lets the same letterforms run from hairline titles to heavy poster lines.
Event and campaign headings
Roman and italic exist in all nine weights, so headings can vary slant as well as weight.
