Kablammo is a variable font: the download holds the whole weight range in one file, and the named weights above are positions on that range.

About Kablammo

Kablammo is a display typeface made of thick rounded capitals studded with dots, bars and squiggles. In the specimen the lowercase row shows the same capital shapes as the uppercase row, and every glyph, figures and punctuation included, carries its own ornaments. The family is a variable font with a single custom axis, Morph (MORF), from 0 to 60: moving along it sends the decorative parts in all directions while weight and contrast change, which the official notes recommend for animation. Each glyph has four main states, and these are offered as named instances in software that lists them. There is one weight and no italic. The 1,099 glyphs cover Latin, Latin Extended, Vietnamese and Cyrillic. The notes credit Vectro Type Foundry and cite 1990s doodle graphics, the Memphis design movement, cartoons and toys of those years as sources. Kablammo is published under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

Where Kablammo works

Animated titles
Animating the Morph axis between 0 and 60 makes the ornaments on each letter move, so a title can wriggle without any extra artwork.
Party and festival posters
Capitals covered in dots and squiggles carry a poster with a single word.
Toys, games and children's products
The cartoon and toy references behind the design fit packaging and logos aimed at children.
Stickers and social graphics
The four main states of each glyph give four different looks for the same word across a series of posts.

Cyrillic is included
Alongside Latin and Vietnamese, the font covers the Cyrillic script. Greek is not included.
Designer names differ
The credits list Vectro Type Foundry, Travis Kochel, Lizy Gershenzon, Daria Cohen and Ethan Cohen; the name table gives Daria Petrova in place of Daria Cohen.
