About Jockey One

Jockey One is a display sans serif with narrow, heavy letters. The official description is brief: it is a sans serif designed by TypeTogether, the partnership of Veronika Burian and José Scaglione. The specimen supplies the detail. Round letters are flattened into tall rounded rectangles, so o, c and e have slot-like counters; stems are thick and close together; and many strokes finish with an angled cut, visible on the arms of k and the tail of y, which curls under the baseline. Capitals and lowercase are close to each other in width, and the numerals share the same compressed build. Because the letters are narrow, long words fit into little width. Jockey One has a single Regular style of 376 glyphs for Latin and Latin Extended and is not a variable font. The copyright notice reserves the font name Jockey.

Where Jockey One works

Sports headlines and scoreboards
Narrow heavy letters and compact numerals pack a result or a team name into a tight space.
Tall poster titles
Rounded-rectangle bowls let lines stack closely without the round letters colliding.
Navigation bars and tabs
The condensed width fits several short labels side by side at display sizes.
Wayfinding and labels
Thick stems and slot-like counters stay distinct on signs read at a glance.
