About Jersey 25

Jersey 25 is a display typeface whose outlines are built from small square steps, like stitches on a knitting chart. That is its purpose: the official notes present the Soft Type Collection as type made for knitters who want to chart lettering, and describe Jersey as a sporty sans serif that can be knitted at several sizes. The number after the name states the height of the capitals, here 25; other scales exist so that lettering fits projects of different size, and a separate Charted version is mentioned as well. In the specimen the letters are bold and compact, with stair-stepped curves and diagonals. The family has one Regular style and is not a variable font. Its 359 glyphs cover Latin and Latin Extended. Sarah Cadigan-Fried is the designer, and the copyright notice names The Soft Type Project Authors. Jersey 25 is published under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

Where Jersey 25 works

Planning knitted lettering
Letters built on a square grid with capitals 25 units high can be previewed on screen before a name or slogan is charted.
Team and sports graphics
The notes call the design sporty, and its blocky capitals and numerals suit names and numbers on kit mock-ups.
Pixel-style titles
Stair-stepped curves give game screens, event posters and stream overlays a deliberately gridded look.
Patches, stickers and merchandise
Bold, compact letters hold together when embroidered, printed small or cut as a sticker.
