About Indie Flower

Indie Flower is a handwriting typeface with unconnected, upright letters drawn in a stroke of nearly constant thickness with rounded ends. The shapes are loose rather than regular: capitals vary in width, the bowls of a, d and g are open and round, and the descenders of g, j and y finish in a hook, which keeps the look of quick writing with a felt pen. Kimberly Geswein, the designer, describes it as carefree and open, and somewhat bolder than her other handwriting fonts. The family consists of one Regular style and is not a variable font. Its 356 glyphs cover the Latin and Latin Extended character sets; the letters for Romanian, Latvian and Vietnamese are not complete, and there is no Cyrillic or Greek. The font was added to Google Fonts in 2011 and is licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

Where Indie Flower works

Classroom worksheets and posters
Upright, unconnected letters stay easy to make out for young readers while still looking handwritten.
Greeting cards and notes
The rounded felt-pen stroke gives a short message the look of a note written by hand.
Quotes for social media
The stroke is heavier than in many handwriting fonts, so a short quote stays visible over a photo or coloured background.
Craft labels and scrapbooks
Uneven capitals and hooked descenders suit jar labels, tags and album captions.
