About Charm

Charm is a handwriting family for the Thai and Latin scripts. Its Latin letters have the look of a formal italic hand: they slant to the right, stand separately instead of joining, and show the thick and thin strokes a broad nib produces as it changes direction. Capitals begin with small entry flicks, and the descenders of f, g, j and y curl to the left. The official description says the shapes were first written on paper with a flat-tipped pen and notes that the family serves Thai religious texts well. Charm has two weights, Regular and Bold, and no separate italic, since the design is already slanted. Each font holds 798 glyphs across Thai, Latin and Vietnamese. The listing credits Cadson Demak, the name table gives Katatrad Aksorn Co., Ltd. as designer, and the license is the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

Where Charm works

Thai religious and ceremonial texts
This is the use the official description singles out for the Thai letters.
Bilingual invitations
Thai and Latin lines come from the same pen, so a two-language card keeps one hand throughout.
Quotations and dedications
Separate, slanted letters with broad-nib contrast read as careful penmanship in a pull quote or a book dedication.
Menu and label headings
Bold 700 holds the thin strokes at smaller sizes on printed labels and menus.
