Cambay is a sans serif family created to give Devanagari a libre typeface that harmonises with the Latin Cantarell. Pooja Saxena, who works in Bangalore, leads the project. Its four styles are Regular, Italic, Bold and Bold Italic; the official notes describe the slanted styles as obliques that received only the optical corrections they could not do without, so they are sloped romans, not separately drawn cursives. The Latin letters in the specimen are humanist in build: open apertures in a, c and e, a single-storey g, low stroke contrast and a generous x-height. The fonts contain 924 glyphs across the Devanagari, Latin and Latin Extended subsets, so one family can set a document that mixes both scripts. Cambay is a static family, not a variable font, and is published under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

The family contains the core letters these languages are written with:
Writing systems with glyphs in the family besides Latin: Devanagari. These are listed as scripts, not as a promise for every language written in them.
Character sets found in the files: devanagari, latin, latin-ext. The language list is a check of required letters against the font, not a promise of typographic quality in each language.

Suggestions come from simple rules on the records: a contrasting classification and enough weights to carry body text. They are a starting point, not a verdict.
Download the family and host the files on your own site, then declare them in CSS. Please do not link to the files on trendhub.net: preview files here are subsets and their addresses change.
