About Baloo Da 2

Baloo Da 2 is a rounded display typeface that covers the Bengali script together with Latin. The Latin in the specimen has soft, fully rounded stroke ends, a single-storey g and open, friendly shapes; the heavier weights thicken into compact, dark words. It belongs to Baloo 2, which the official notes describe as ten families, one for each of nine Indic scripts plus Arabic, all carrying the same Latin, Latin Extended and Vietnamese set. Compared with the earlier Baloo, the notes list extra glyphs, engineering fixes and an extension to five weights. One variable file holds a weight axis from 400 to 800 — Regular, Medium, SemiBold, Bold, ExtraBold — with no italics. It contains 1,247 glyphs. The Bengali letters are credited to Noopur Datye and Sulekha Rajkumar with Ek Type, and the license is the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

Where Baloo Da 2 works

Headlines in Bengali script and Latin
Both scripts share the rounded stroke ends and weight, so a bilingual headline reads as one design.
Children's books and learning apps
Soft terminals and open shapes give titles and prompts an approachable tone for young readers.
Snack, toy and sweet packaging
ExtraBold 800 forms a dense, rounded word that carries a product name on a small pack.
Captions and bylines
The lighter end of the axis, Regular and Medium, keeps the family usable for short supporting text beneath a headline.
