About Anybody

Anybody is a display sans serif built around squared curves: round letters such as o, c and e are drawn as rounded rectangles, and the specimen shows flat-sided bowls in b, d, p and q. The official notes cite inspiration from the 1990s and point to a tall lowercase and short capitals, which help exaggerate the extremes of width and weight. Those extremes come from two variable axes. Width runs from 50 to 150, which the notes describe as UltraCondensed to ExtraExpanded, and weight runs from 100 to 900 with nine named weights from Thin to Black. Italics are in a separate file and slant by 10 degrees, giving 18 named instances at the default width. The 773 glyphs cover Latin, Latin Extended and Vietnamese. Tyler Finck designed Anybody; the name table lists Etcetera Type Company as manufacturer.

Where Anybody works

Posters with extreme widths
At width 50 a word becomes a tight column of letters; at 150 a few characters span the sheet.
Headlines fitted to a box
The width axis can be tuned until a line exactly fills a banner, card or column.
Animated and responsive type
Width and weight are continuous axes, so a title can stretch or thicken as a layout changes.
Sports, music and tech branding
Squared letters in Black, set wide, give names a blocky, 1990s-flavoured presence.
Oversized numerals
The rectangular figures hold together as big scores, dates or prices.
