Effie
Minimalist writing app that combines notes, outlines and mind maps with an optional AI writing assistant.
Effie is a distraction-free writing app for Mac, Windows, iPhone, iPad and Android. Effie lets a writer draft in Markdown, arrange ideas as an outline and convert that outline into a mind map with one click. An add-on, Effie AI, summarises, rewrites, translates and proofreads text. Documents sync through the cloud and can be edited offline.
Best for Writers and students who think in outlines or mind maps and prefer a sparse editor over a feature-heavy workspace.

What is Effie?
Effie is a minimalist writing workspace published by 7S2P Inc. that joins three ways of working with text: plain writing, hierarchical outlines and mind maps. The interface keeps buttons to a minimum and relies on Markdown syntax for formatting, with custom fonts and display options. Any outline can be switched to a mind map, where nodes are added, removed or moved to restructure the piece, and tree and organisation chart layouts are also available. Work syncs between computer, phone and tablet and remains editable without a connection. Export options include PDF, DOCX, Markdown and long images styled for sharing on a phone. Effie AI adds summaries, outline generation, shortening and expanding, tone changes, translation, spelling and grammar fixes, brainstorming and a question prompt. The app requires a subscription; the trial version is meant for evaluation.
