Hind is a sans serif family for the Devanagari and Latin scripts, developed for user interfaces. Its letters have a humanist build with strokes that look almost monolinear, and most strokes end in a flat horizontal or vertical cut, which the specimen shows on the Latin c, e and s; apertures are open. The two scripts are scaled to each other: the Devanagari headline sits just under the Latin capital height, the base characters being 94% as tall as the capitals. The vowel marks lean traditional, the knotted terminals inside the base letters more contemporary. Hind has five static weights, Light, Regular, Medium, SemiBold and Bold, without italics, and is not a variable font. The fonts on this page hold 987 glyphs, among them many Devanagari conjuncts. The Indian Type Foundry first published Hind in 2014; its designer is Manushi Parikh. The license is the SIL Open Font License 1.1.
