About Handlee

Handlee is a handwriting typeface drawn with a line of even thickness and rounded ends, like a felt-tip pen. The letters are separate, lean slightly forward and do not line up exactly: each glyph is placed a little differently against the baseline, and ascenders and descenders differ in length. According to the official description, the design follows the handwriting of Joe Prince loosely, overlaps between letters were removed so that the face survives small sizes, and the diacritics were drawn slightly large and positioned by hand, one by one, instead of being generated. The family consists of one Regular style, with no bold or italic. Its 204 glyphs cover the basic Latin character set, enough for English and for Western European languages such as French, German, Spanish and Portuguese. Handlee is published under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

Where Handlee works

Notes and callouts
Monoline strokes without overlaps stay clear when a comment or margin note is set small beside other text.
Personal blogs and recipe pages
Uneven baselines and varied ascenders give headings and short intros the look of a note written by hand.
Greeting cards and invitations to informal events
A few lines in Handlee read like a message written with a pen.
Captions on photos and social posts
Separate, rounded letters remain readable over an image at caption size.
