Aldrich is a sans serif typeface built on squared proportions: the bowls of O, C and D and of the lowercase a, e and o are rectangles with rounded corners instead of ovals. Strokes hold a single thickness, the letters are wide, and the lowercase stands tall against the capitals, which gives a word a flat, steady outline. The official notes relate the style to gothic lettering of the early twentieth century. Numerals follow the same boxy construction, and the Q carries a short vertical tail through its base. Aldrich consists of one Regular style and is not a variable font. Its 259 glyphs cover the basic Latin set for languages such as English, French, German, Spanish and Estonian. The name table credits Matthew Desmond, the official page lists his MADType as designer, and the license is the SIL Open Font License 1.1.
