## About Vibur

Vibur is a handwriting typeface drawn with a round-ended line of constant thickness. According to the official notes, Johan Kallas started from his own handwriting and reworked the strokes to make them more pronounced and tidier than the original, aiming at a display font. In the specimen the lowercase slants and joins through loops, with a cursive r and s and looped b, o, v and w, while the capitals are plain, unconnected and only slightly slanted. Parentheses are wide open arcs and the 7 carries a crossbar. The notes mention numerous ligatures that can be switched on through OpenType features. The family has a single style, labelled Regular 400, and is not a variable font. Its 264 glyphs cover the basic Latin set; French is covered except for the rare œ. Vibur is published under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

## Where it works

- **Headings in playful layouts**: The official notes suggest bright, playful designs as its setting, and the monoline stroke holds at heading sizes.
- **Greeting cards and party invitations**: Joined lowercase with loops reads as neat, friendly handwriting for a short message.
- **School-themed graphics**: The looped, joined lowercase has the look of careful school cursive, which suits classroom posters and labels.
- **Logos for small shops**: A single word in the connected lowercase becomes a signature-like mark.

## Things to know

- **Weight is Regular 400**: The only style is listed as Regular 400, matching the file name Vibur-Regular.ttf, although the style name stored inside the font reads Medium.
- **Missing œ**: The French ligature letter œ is not in the font.
- **Ligatures are OpenType features**: The notes say the ligatures are activated through OpenType features, so they depend on software support.
