## About Trocchi

Trocchi is a slab serif with a relaxed character. Vernon Adams derived it from several old faces linked to the English typecutter Vincent Figgins and loosened those models into something more casual, intended for both text and display. The specimen shows sturdy, bracketed slab serifs, moderate contrast, and round ball terminals on a, c, f, r and y. The figures are old-style: 3, 4, 5, 7 and 9 drop below the baseline while 6 and 8 rise above the others. The letters are wide and the colour is dark for a regular weight. The name honours Alexander Trocchi, a Scottish novelist. The family has one Regular style with 432 glyphs across Latin and Latin Extended and is not a variable font. It is published under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

## Where it works

- **Editorial headlines**: Wide letters, slab serifs and ball terminals give a headline a nineteenth-century newspaper flavour without stiffness.
- **Pull quotes and standfirsts**: Dark colour at Regular weight sets a quotation apart from lighter body text.
- **Dates and prices in text**: Old-style figures blend with lowercase, so years and amounts do not stand out as capitals-height blocks.
- **Book covers and literary posters**: A face named after a novelist and built on Victorian slab models fits titles for fiction and readings.

## Things to know

- **Old-style figures by default**: Numerals rise and fall like lowercase in the specimen; they do not align in height for tables.
- **Single weight**: Trocchi has Regular 400 only, without bold or italic.
- **Classed here as a slab serif**: The source catalogue files Trocchi under serif and display; its own description calls it a slab serif.
