## About Sintony

Sintony is a sans serif typeface whose round letters are slightly squared: the bowls of b, d, o and p have flattened sides, and curves turn into the stems through a soft corner. Strokes thin a little where they join, enough to be seen at heading size without disturbing small text. Letter widths are moderate and the lowercase is tall, with a two-storey a and a single-storey g. The official description presents the face as one for long passages, giving text a calm and clear tone. Eduardo Rodriguez Tunni designed Sintony, and the family has two styles, Regular 400 and Bold 700, without italics; it is not a variable font. The 248 glyphs cover the Latin subset, with the letters needed for English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German and other Western European languages. Sintony is published under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

## Where it works

- **Articles and blog posts**: The design was drawn for long passages: Regular carries the paragraphs, and Bold marks subheads and key terms.
- **Captions and footnotes**: A tall lowercase and open shapes keep small secondary text readable under images and tables.
- **Forms and settings screens**: Squared bowls give labels and input text an even, orderly rhythm in plain interfaces.
- **Reports and documentation**: Regular and Bold are enough for a document that needs only body text and headings.

## Things to know

- **No italic**: Sintony has Regular 400 and Bold 700 only. Emphasis inside a paragraph has to use Bold, since the family has no italic.
- **Latin subset only**: The Latin Extended set is incomplete, so text in Central European languages should be tested before use.
- **Static fonts**: The two styles are separate files; there is no variable version.
