## About Pathway Gothic One

Pathway Gothic One is a sans serif with strongly compressed letters. In the specimen the capitals and lowercase are tall and narrow, the strokes keep an almost constant thickness, and round letters such as O, C and G are drawn as upright ovals with straight sides. The lowercase is high in relation to the capitals, so mixed-case lines stay compact in both directions. The official notes place the design in the tradition of narrow grotesques and call this book weight the first of a planned series; so far the family is the single Regular file, with no bold or italic and no variable version. Eduardo Tunni is the designer. The notes record a March 2023 update that enlarged the glyph set and added fractions. Its 425 glyphs cover the Latin and Latin Extended subsets, including Turkish, Polish, Czech and Romanian letters.

## Where it works

- **Long headlines in narrow columns**: Compressed letters fit a full sentence across a mobile screen or a single newspaper column.
- **Navigation bars and tabs**: Narrow widths let several menu labels share one row without shrinking the font size.
- **Posters with stacked lines**: Tall ovals and even strokes build solid blocks when lines are stacked at large sizes.
- **Tables, labels and price tags**: Slim digits save horizontal room, and the fractions added in 2023 serve measurements and recipes.

## Things to know

- **Only the book weight exists**: The notes speak of more weights to come, but the family holds one Regular file. Bold emphasis is not available.
- **No italic**: There is no slanted or italic style.
- **Reserved name**: The license reserves the font name Pathway; a modified version must use another name.
