## About Orienta

Orienta is a sans serif with roomy proportions: wide letters, large open counters and loose spacing that keeps shapes apart when the type is small. The specimen shows a tall lowercase, a double-storey a, open apertures on c, e and s, and strokes with only slight modulation; the tails of a, l and t bend gently at the baseline. The official notes stress the balance between letter shapes and the white space inside and around them as the source of its legibility at small sizes, and point to stroke details that become visible in titles. Orienta has a single Regular style with 441 glyphs for Latin and Latin Extended. A February 2023 update enlarged the glyph set and added fractions. The designer is Eduardo Tunni, named Eduardo Rodriguez Tunni in the font.

## Where it works

- **Captions and footnotes**: Open counters and loose spacing are the features the official notes credit for legibility at very small sizes.
- **Labels in apps and forms**: A single Regular weight covers field labels, hints and helper text where one tone is enough.
- **Maps, diagrams and charts**: Wide, clearly separated letters keep place names and axis labels readable when reduced.
- **Recipes and measurements**: The 2023 update added fractions, so quantities do not need to be faked with a slash.
- **Quiet headings**: Set large, the gently bent stroke endings give a title detail without ornament.

## Things to know

- **Regular only**: Orienta has no bold or italic. Emphasis must come from size, colour or a second family.
- **Takes space**: The letters are wide and loosely spaced, so a line holds fewer characters than in a narrower sans.
- **Updated in February 2023**: According to the official notes, that update brought a bigger glyph set, fractions and small aesthetic changes.
