## About Moderustic

Moderustic is a sans serif made for screens and interface text. Its defining property is uniwidth construction: a word occupies the same horizontal space in Light as in ExtraBold. The weight samples in the specimen confirm it, each line ending at the same point. The shapes are plain and round, with a single-storey a and g, a straight-legged k and open terminals on c and s. The family is variable on one axis, weight, from 300 to 800, with six named instances: Light, Regular, Medium, SemiBold, Bold and ExtraBold. There is no italic. The 1,541 glyphs cover Latin and Latin Extended, Greek, and Cyrillic with its extended block. Tural Alisoy is the designer, and the font file lists TAFT Foundry as manufacturer.

## Where it works

- **Buttons, tabs and menus**: A hovered or selected label can switch from Regular to Bold without changing its width, so neighbouring items stay in place.
- **Data tables and dashboards**: Highlighting a row in a heavier weight does not reflow the column, because all weights share the same advance widths.
- **Multilingual apps**: Latin, Greek and Cyrillic are drawn in one family, which keeps a localised interface consistent.
- **Animated weight transitions**: The 300 to 800 axis can be animated on hover or focus while the layout holds still.
- **Product and documentation sites**: Six weights supply headings, body and captions from a single variable file.

## Things to know

- **Same width in every weight**: Heavy weights look comparatively narrow and light weights comparatively wide, a consequence of the fixed widths.
- **No italic**: Moderustic has upright styles only; emphasis comes from weight.
- **Single-storey a**: The round a can be mistaken for o at very small sizes, so check critical strings such as codes.
