## About Libertinus Sans

Libertinus Sans is a sans serif built on the proportions of a book serif. Strokes are modulated instead of uniform: stems are fuller than the arches and joins, and many terminals flare slightly, which is visible in the specimen on a, e, s and the capital S. The capitals are wide and classical, the lowercase a and g are double-storey, and the figures stand at capital height. The family has two weights, Regular 400 and Bold 700, and one Italic, three static styles in all. Its 2,232 glyphs take in Latin, Latin Extended and Vietnamese, Greek and Greek Extended, Cyrillic and its extension, and Hebrew characters. The designer credit is Philipp H. Poll; the font file adds Khaled Hosny, and the copyright notice names The Libertinus Sans Project Authors.

## Where it works

- **Companion to a book serif**: Serif-like proportions and stroke modulation let captions, sidebars and headings sit beside serif body text without a change of rhythm.
- **Multilingual academic documents**: Latin, Greek including the extended polytonic block, Cyrillic and Hebrew characters are in one family, useful for papers that quote several scripts.
- **Presentation slides**: Regular and Bold give two clear levels, and the humanist shapes stay readable on a projector.
- **Captions and footnotes**: Open counters and double-storey a and g keep small sizes legible in printed matter.

## Things to know

- **No bold italic**: The three styles are Regular, Italic and Bold. Bold text cannot be italicised with a true cut.
- **Static files**: Libertinus Sans is not a variable font; weights between 400 and 700 are not available.
- **Contrast sets it apart**: The thick-thin modulation makes it look closer to a serif without serifs than to a geometric or grotesque sans.
