## About Kristi

Kristi is a script typeface that Birgit Pulk wrote with an ordinary felt pen, using bold and quick movements. The official notes link it to old chancery typefaces and explain that the name is a common Estonian girl's name. In the specimen the writing leans hard to the right, the lowercase bodies are tiny compared with the ascenders and descenders, and vertical strokes are slim and close together, so a word looks like a row of tall slanted lines. Some letters join and others stop short, as in real fast handwriting, and details such as the g end in a small twist. Capitals are narrow and only a little more elaborate than the lowercase. The family is one Regular file with 209 glyphs covering basic Latin. It is published under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

## Where it works

- **Signature-style logotypes**: A name in Kristi looks signed with a pen, the large-size use its designer suggests.
- **Headlines over photographs**: Tall slim strokes add a handwritten line to fashion, travel or food imagery without covering much of the picture.
- **Cards and personal notes**: The quick felt-pen rhythm gives a greeting or thank-you line the look of a note written in a hurry.
- **Product names on labels**: A single word set large shows the long ascenders and the twist on g that mark the design.

## Things to know

- **Needs large sizes**: The lowercase bodies are very small in relation to the ascenders, so Kristi must be set big to stay readable.
- **One slanted style**: There is a single file at weight 400. The slant is built into the letters; no upright or bold version exists.
- **French lacks two rare letters**: French is covered except for œ and capital Ÿ. The glyph set is basic Latin only.
