## About Bigshot One

Bigshot One is a display serif in the Didone tradition, where thick upright stems meet very thin connecting strokes. In the specimen the stems are heavy enough that the counters of a, e and s shrink to slits, and the serifs are short flat slabs. Gesine Todt added details that break the system on purpose: the capital O carries a small spur on its shoulder, the middle bar of F crosses the stem, the Q drops a hooked tail and the 7 has a crossbar. The family is one Regular style, labelled 400 although it looks black, and it is not a variable font. Its 218 glyphs cover the basic Latin subset. The official description says the design prefers big display sizes, and the tight counters confirm that it is not a text face.

## Where it works

- **Magazine cover lines**: The contrast between fat stems and hairlines shows clearly at cover sizes, where the thin joins do not fill in.
- **Poster titles**: A two or three word title uses the spurred O and barred F as visual hooks without extra decoration.
- **Wordmarks and mastheads**: One dark style with unusual capitals gives a name a recognisable shape when set alone.
- **Pull quotes and drop caps**: A single oversized capital or a short quotation in Bigshot One contrasts with a lighter text family around it.

## Things to know

- **One style only**: Bigshot One has a single Regular style at weight 400. There is no italic, light or bold cut.
- **Unconventional capitals**: The spur on O, the crossed F and the barred 7 are part of the design and cannot be switched off in this file.
- **Basic Latin subset**: The 218 glyphs cover Western European languages. Latin Extended, Cyrillic and Greek are not included.
