## About Allison

Allison is a script typeface with the look of quick, confident handwriting. Its lowercase is small, steeply slanted and written with visible flat-pen modulation, thick on the downstrokes and hairline thin on the joins; letters link in places and break in others, as a fast hand does. The capitals work at a different scale. In the specimen they stand roughly three times the height of the lowercase x-height and open with long looping entry strokes, in a looser, brush-like manner. The numerals share the slant and the swelling stroke. Robert Leuschke is the designer. The font has a single Regular style, with no bold or italic, and 618 glyphs covering Latin, Latin Extended and Vietnamese. Because the lowercase is so small and fine, the face needs generous sizes. The license is the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

## Where it works

- **Signature-style logos**: A name set with one tall capital and the small running lowercase resembles a signed autograph.
- **Names on wedding stationery**: The looping capitals lead each name, and the thin joins print cleanly at invitation heading sizes.
- **Quotes on cards and prints**: A short phrase takes on the rhythm of fast pen writing, with joins that come and go.
- **Labels for handmade products**: The flat-pen stroke gives a product or maker's name a hand-signed look on tags and stickers.

## Things to know

- **One style**: Allison has Regular 400 only. There is no bold or italic cut.
- **Very small lowercase**: The lowercase is a fraction of the capital height, so Allison has to be set much larger than a text face to be read.
- **Capitals are initials**: In the specimen a row of capitals overlaps and tangles. The capitals are drawn to start a word, not to spell one.
