# Alike Angular font

> The titling companion to Alike: the same serif proportions redrawn entirely with straight segments.

Alike Angular is a titling serif by Sveta Sebyakina, published by Cyreal as a companion to Alike. It keeps the proportions of Alike but builds every letter from straight segments, so curves become facets. Alike Angular has one Regular style with 360 glyphs for Latin and Latin Extended and is released under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

## About Alike Angular

Alike Angular is a display serif made as the titling partner of the Alike text face. It shares the proportions of that design so the two can be combined, but its outlines contain no curves: bowls, serifs and joins are assembled from short straight lines, which gives round letters such as a, e, g and o a faceted, cut-out look at large sizes. The official notes point to extra expressive details in T, Z, M and E. Sveta Sebyakina drew the face in 2009; Cyreal released it in 2011, with Alexei Vanyashin collaborating. The family has one Regular style and is not a variable font. Its 360 glyphs cover Latin and Latin Extended. Alike Angular is published under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, with Alike and Alike Angular as reserved font names.

## Where it works

- **Titles above Alike text**: Shared proportions let a heading in Alike Angular sit over paragraphs in Alike without a change of rhythm.
- **Book and magazine covers**: At large sizes the straight-segment outlines read as carved or cut letters.
- **Posters for exhibitions and theatre**: Faceted bowls in a, e and g give a classical serif title a crafted, hand-cut surface.
- **Wordmarks**: The reworked T, Z, M and E supply distinctive capitals for a short name.

## Things to know

- **Facets vanish at small sizes**: The straight segments are visible in large settings; in small text the letters look like an ordinary serif with slightly rough curves.
- **One style**: Alike Angular has a single Regular style, with no bold or italic.
- **Reserved names**: The copyright notice reserves the names Alike and Alike Angular, so modified versions must be renamed unless permission is given.
