## About Alatsi

Alatsi is a geometric sans serif of slightly narrow proportions designed by Spyros Zevelakis; Eben Sorkin is credited beside him, and Sorkin Type publishes the family. The specimen shows a single weight that is darker than a typical regular, with low contrast, round bowls and sharply pointed tips on A, V and W. The official notes connect those points and the treatment of the terminals to the face's contemporary feel, and a modest x-height to its calm one. For a one-style family the glyph set is large: 1,191 glyphs. The notes list old-style figures, numerators, denominators, fractions and case-sensitive forms, and say an upgrade in November 2022 extended coverage to most Latin-based languages. Alatsi includes Latin, Latin Extended and Vietnamese character sets and is published under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

## Where it works

- **Headlines and subheads**: A dark single weight on semi-condensed proportions fits a headline into a column while keeping round, open letters.
- **Brand names and packaging**: Pointed A, V and W give a wordmark sharp accents among otherwise calm geometric shapes.
- **Prices, dates and measurements**: Old-style figures, fractions, numerators and denominators cover recipe quantities, sizes and price tags without workarounds.
- **All-capitals labels**: Case-sensitive forms adjust punctuation to the height of capitals in buttons and tags.
- **Titles in many Latin-script languages**: The 1,191 glyphs reach Central European languages, Turkish and Vietnamese in the same weight.

## Things to know

- **One weight**: Alatsi is Regular 400 only. There is no lighter text weight, bold or italic.
- **Figure styles are OpenType features**: Old-style figures, fractions and case-sensitive forms have to be switched on in software that supports OpenType features.
- **No Cyrillic in practice**: The source lists an extended Cyrillic subset, but the files contain no usable glyphs for it; the coverage is Latin and Vietnamese.
